Who is Epicte?

Epicte is Los Angeles-based composer, Nicholas Freilich (and not England-based cycle racer, Nick Freilich).

Epicte is part of the Betafish music family.

Epicte is pronounced [eh-pik-tea], and is short for Epictetus.

Epicte is Brown University's only graduate with a degree in Synergistic Arts.

Epicte is a classically-trained percussionist, though his true love has always been jazz piano (and Jamba Juice).

About the Music

Epicte's music is electronic-based instrumental music focused on wordless storytelling. Its sound ranges from plaintive ambience to relentless fury, and all things in between. His influences - detailed here - include Steve Reich, RJD2, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, John Coltrane, M83, Junior Boys, Boards of Canada, Amon Tobin, Erlend Øye, Nobuo Uematsu, and many others.
